How big does my yard need to be?

What feed do you provide?
We use high-quality feed packed with essential nutrients. The feed is a balance of protein, essential amino acids that are key to enhancing egg size and natural ingredients to give rich, vibrant yolks.
Our hens produce such great eggs they won FIRST, SECOND and RESERVE GRAND CHAMPION in the Brisbane Exhibition 2025 Egg Competition.
If requested, we can also provide certified organic, gluten-free, soy-free feed to cater for food sensitive households.
How many eggs will I get?
Our hens already laying and each hen typically lays 5-7 eggs a week. No rooster required!
Will my hens make noise and mess?
Like all animals your hens will make some noise, but not crow like a rooster. Our coops have a large attached run to keep your hens content and your yard mess-free. But if you do let your hens free-range in the yard (while supervised and away from other pets), they’ll scratch in the ground and be natural pest controllers!
What happens if a hen gets sick or dies?
We’re passionate about keeping our hens healthy. During your rental period, we provide full support for you and your hens. It’s rare, but if a chicken becomes unwell, call us and we’ll be able to help. If predators affect your hens, we’ll happily replace them as long as the issue isn't due to neglect.
Can I leave my hens for a few days?
Our hens are happy to be left alone for a weekend, provided they have enough food and water. You’ll have a few eggs to collect when you return! Beyond two days, have someone reliable check on the hens, top up food and water and collect the eggs.
Does Jen’s Hens rent to schools/childcare centres?
